Prompt: Imagine you had a job in which you had to sift through forgotten or lost belongings. Describe a day in which you come upon something peculiar, or tell a story about something interesting you find in a pile.
Twist: If you’d like to continue our serial challenge, also reflect on the theme of lost and found more generally in this post.
Detention. What a joke. Guess what this shitty school was making me do. Sift through the lost and found. Why I don’t know, they told me they wanted it organized by type. Clothing. Electronics. Jewelry. Supplies. It was stupid, tedious, and completely unnecessary but I had no choice. I rifled through shirts, pants, MP3 players, and hundreds of other little things people have lost. Suddenly my hand grasped something metal. It felt heavy and important, I instantly got curious. I pulled it out of the pile of stuff and there in my hand was a badge. On it were the letters ATF, beneath it Ability Task Force. Why was there a police badge of some kind found in a high school?
The name Ability Task Force kept getting to me.
I don’t like this post…
